TRT 关务与物流研讨会

On November 7, TRT hosted a workshop on ‘Customs Classification Risks and Compliance’ at the Taicang Enterprise Service Center.
For this workshop, we invited Mr. Peng Xugui, General Manager of Suzhou Hengge Customs Consulting Co., Ltd. | Commodity Classification Research Expert. and an expert in commodity classification research. He focused on commodity classification—a core aspect of customs operations—systematically explaining its definition, potential risks, the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in classification, and corporate compliance strategies. Peng Xugui emphasized that commodity classification is a legal process determining HS codes for imported and exported goods, directly impacting tariffs, regulatory oversight, and trade policies. Incorrect classification can lead to back taxes, fines, damaged credit, and even smuggling risks. He emphasized that while AI can enhance classification accuracy and efficiency through big data, human review remains essential to achieve human-machine collaboration. Enterprises are advised to establish internal audit systems, cultivate specialized teams, utilize customs pre-rulings, and integrate AI technology to build a comprehensive compliance management model covering pre-event, during-event, and post-event stages, thereby effectively mitigating risks.
This 120-minute in-depth session delivered detailed, logically structured content, providing attendees with highly actionable compliance guidance.
